Welcome to the world Allison Terry Mestas!

Alli was born today at 2:35pm. She weighs 7lbs-10oz and is 18 1/2 inches long. She has a thick head of brown hair and looks a ton like her daddy.

The C-section went really well and I am recovering well too. She is breast feeding well already! If you come to visit, make sure to knock first is you don't want an eyefull. :)

I can't believe what if feels like to be a mommy, I love her so much! I have attached a couple of pictures, and will post more tomorrow of her proud daddy and grandparents...they took their cameras and ran!

Guesses on the Birthday?

We had our 38 week check up this morning, and everything is looking good with the baby. Because I have been having some pretty good swings with my blood pressure, they had me go into the hospital to have my blood pressure checked at around 1:00pm. They also did some other tests, and the final word was that we were not going to have the baby today...but it could be any day now.

Alli is perfectly happy and active right where she is and doesn't seem to have any intention of coming out of her own free will in the near future. My body, on the other hand, seems to want to be done being pregnant. So, I am on bed rest, keeping my body as relaxed as possible to allow Alli the time to get ready to join the world. The longer she stays put, the more time she has to put on weight and develop her lungs before taking those first big breaths.

So, Devin and I will be making a trek to the hospital to have them monitor my blood pressure, and a few other things, and the baby's heart rate every other day until either I go into labor, or the doctor thinks it would be safer to have the C-section early. Either way she will be here soon.

If you have some spare time give me a call...I'm bored. If you are making guesses on the birthday, you had better pick one of the every other days...my bets on next Tuesday the 25th. :) The scheduled date is June 1st.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and we will keep you posted!

Modified Bed Rest :(

I had my 37 week check up last Friday, and my Doc said no more going to work. I have moderate preeclampsia so I am to keep my feet up as much as possible and take it easy. So, I got everything prepared at work for me to be gone and am now, "taking it easy", at home this week. I'm doing some work part time, and taking lots of breaks. The goal is to not have the baby until at least next week, and to not progress to extreme preeclampsia symptoms. :) I have another appointment on Friday, and we will have a better idea of whether or not we will be moving the due date up a week.

So, if you happen to be in my neck of the woods, feel free to stop by. :) I'm mostly hanging out at the house, with a few jaunts to the video store or out to lunch. Me and Alli feel fine and are just hanging out until the big day! :) She is still squiggling as much as ever was!

Baby Shower

My baby shower was wonderful! A big thank you to mom, Larisa, Morgan and Shirley for planning and hosting the shindig. :)
One of the activities at the shower was all of the guests decorating onesies(no idea how to spell that, but I'm sure I will soon)! So now Alli will have custom clothes decorated by my closest friends and family. What a lucky little girl.

Conveniently for me, Cori happened to be in town on the weekend of my baby shower. She is 5 months pregnant and having a girl too! Hopefully our little girls will have many chances over the years to become the best of friends.

This is the quilt that my mom made for Alli so that she will be able to play on the floor wherever we are. It is absolutely adorable!

Marsha and Loryn... Loryn was the only baby at the baby shower, what a cutie! I am so glad Marsha and Bobbi have little ones too. How much trouble will all these little girls get into in the years to come!

What a great day with wonderful company, gifts, decorations, and food. Devin even got to have some of the leftovers...but he had to miss all of the fun at the shower. :)

36 weeks and how many to go?

Our last Dr. appointment was on Wednesday and Alli is looking healthy. She is also looking like she has Devin's big head...and not my pin head. Good news, I am already planning on having a C-section, because I would be having one now if it wasn't already the plan. :)

My bloodpressure is elevated, which is the norm for 1st pregnancies, but it also means we might be welcoming Alli a little earlier than previously thought. She could be a week or two earlier than June 1, so we will keep you posted. We'll know more at our next appointment on May 14th.

I had a wonderful baby shower last Saturday! Thanks Mom, Larisa, and Morgan for putting it together and thanks to everyone who came and sent gifts. This baby is already so spoiled and she isn't even born yet. I'll post pictures of the shower and the baby's room soon!

Have a wonderful sunny weekend (well it is sunny in AK)!
