Starting to Show

This Friday was my company Christmas Party. I didn't bother to think about what I was going to wear to it until Wednesday...which was almost too late! None of my dresses fit (well, none of them fit without me looking really slutty) so I decided I was going to buy a new dress for the occasion. After trying on about 20 dresses, I decided I do indeed look pregnant and not just fat. Devin's favorite comment when I say with my usual exasperated tone that I look hugely pregnant is, "Amy, you are pregnant, why are you surprised when you look pregnant?". I really don't know why, but I feel like I look more pregnant now every day. In the end I finally walked into a maternity store and was very happy to find clothes that fit me. I guess the spandex waistline will be my friend for the next 5 1/2 months. :) And, I am still not a dress person...what a big surprise!

I will post a couple of pics of my pregnant self next week when I hit 16 weeks. My plan is to take a couple of pics every two weeks. This is how I am going to start the baby's baby book. He is going to get to see himself expanding before we even find out if he is in fact a he. :).

Last Wednesday I had my three month Doctor's Appointment. There was good news, bad news, and some just plain news...

Bad news, I have placenta previa. This means that my placenta is growing in the lower part of the womb and is covering the opening of the cervix. What does this mean to my life...it means pelvic rest for the next 6 weeks (I'm sure you can figure out the main meaning of pelvic rest). This also means no lifting anything over ten pounds. It is amazing how little ten pounds is. I think I made about 10 trips up with the groceries yesterday. :)

One more thing on the bad news front before heading to the just plain news. My doc doesn't want me to gain any weight while I am pregnant if I can help it. So, those of you that live around me, no tempting me with fatty foods, and no comments about eating for two! :) It looks like me and baby will do just fine on my already 15 pounds overweight self. The reason for this is that I have two degenerating discs in my lower back and if I gain any weight I might end up on bed rest or re-injure my back...two things I do not want to happen. So, back to the healthy diet it is. This baby is going to love salad!

Just plain news, Baby Metas will be joining our world c-section delivery style. It seems that with those same annoying discs, my doctor doesn't think I will be able to push, and even if I can, that I might rupture my discs in the process. So, I'm thinking that both of those possibilities sound pretty bad, so c-section it is. I guess this way I won't have to be so nervous about the birthing process. :)

I was feeling a little disgruntled after all of this news, but then we got to the good news. The baby has a strong heart beat and seems to be very healthy. We had genetic testing done, and the baby does not have any genetic defects. While my body may be taking a bit of a hit, it is all happening for a good reason. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband, family, and friends to share this crazy ride with!

I hope you had a great thanksgiving...and I hope no one got hurt if they went out shopping on Black Friday!!!!!

12 Week Pics

The baby was punching me...or maybe dancing. I was laughing at the time. :)
Baby pretty much had his/her (I am going to use his from now on until I hear otherwise) legs crossed the whole time we were there, other than some bouts of kicking.

Baby Face

He is just hangin out in this one. This pic was taken before the orange juice took its affect. After that, there was no stopping him. Lots of kicks and squiggles. Heart Rate was 171...things are looking good. Two legs, two arms, and we were even able to count 5 toes on one foot. :) It was a wonderful morning!!!!

12 Weeks

Today is the 12 Week mark for my pregnancy. The books are true to their word and I am starting to feel a lot better than I have. Weeks 5-11 were non stop nausea and tiredness. I am still tired, but my appetite is returning and I feel good for most of the day. I do not have morning sickness, I have evening sickness. So, chances are I will be much happier if you talk to me before 8:00PM. :)

I have been so excited to tell people I have been about to burst. So, now that I have hit that all important 12 week date...I figured it was time to spill the beans. :) I am going in for my ultrasound on Friday morning, so I should have pictures to post that afternoon!
